If you need cameras that can be set up anywhere, without mains power or fixed cabling, a temporary CCTV tower is the right solution.
CCTV installation across Newry and the whole of Northern Ireland. Our engineers are based in Coleraine and work across the region, so a Newry system is surveyed, installed and maintained by the same SSAIB Certified team under registration NIRE127. What Is a CCTV Tower?
A CCTV tower is a self-contained, portable surveillance unit. Ours typically stand between four and six metres tall and include HD cameras with wide-angle coverage, on-board recording, solar panels with battery backup, and a 4G SIM for remote access and optional live monitoring.
They do not require planning permission for short-term deployments (though longer-term use in some locations may need to be checked with the local council), and they can be relocated as a project progresses or needs change. Delivery, setup, and collection are all handled by our team. Towers are hired on the same basis in Armagh and Belfast, and once a Newry site is finished and its layout is settled, our CCTV rental systems cover a permanent installation without a large up-front cost.
How It Works
1. Enquiry and site survey
Tell us where the tower is needed, the approximate duration of hire, and what coverage you want to achieve. We will advise on the right unit and camera configuration, and where to position for maximum coverage. A brief site visit can be arranged if required.
2. Delivery and installation
We deliver, position, and set up the tower. This typically takes two to three hours. We configure remote access so you or your team can view live footage via a smartphone or tablet.
3. Optional live monitoring
For higher-risk sites, we can connect the tower to a staffed monitoring centre. If the cameras detect movement after hours, an operator reviews the footage and contacts you, the police, or a keyholding team.
4. Collection
When the hire period ends, we collect the unit and provide a summary of any recorded events on request.

Construction Sites
Newry has seen sustained construction activity in recent years, from housing developments south and west of the city to commercial projects around the retail corridor and city centre. Unoccupied construction sites are consistently targeted for theft of plant, materials, and copper cabling. A CCTV tower at the site entrance and across high-value storage areas provides a visible deterrent and captures footage if a theft does occur.
Our towers are battery-backed and solar-charged, so they keep recording through the night and through weekend shutdowns when no workers are present.
Events
Outdoor events at Newry venues, including sports events at Pairc Esler and community events in the city centre, require temporary camera coverage for crowd safety, access control, and post-event review. Fixed cameras cannot cover temporary event footprints, but our towers can be positioned wherever coverage is needed and removed immediately afterwards.
Vacant Properties and Development Land
Commercial and residential properties standing empty between tenants or during planning stages are an easy target for vandalism, illegal entry, and fly-tipping. A tower on or near a vacant property provides continuous coverage with no ongoing labour cost and no requirement for physical patrols.
We cover sites in and around Newry, including Bessbrook, Crossmaglen, Warrenpoint, and the wider Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area.
Car Parks and Retail Areas
The Quays and Buttercrane shopping areas draw significant footfall. Temporary camera towers in external car parks provide overflow security coverage during busy periods, contractor works, or when fixed camera systems are being upgraded.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can a CCTV tower be deployed in Newry?
Advanced Overwatch can typically deliver and install a CCTV tower at a Newry site within 24 hours of an order being confirmed, subject to unit availability. For planned projects we recommend booking ahead to secure availability, particularly for summer construction season.
How long can I hire a CCTV tower for?
Hire periods are flexible. We supply towers on a weekly, monthly, or project-duration basis. There is no fixed minimum or maximum hire period. Most of our construction site customers hire for the full duration of the groundworks or build phase, which typically runs from a few weeks up to 18 months.
Do CCTV towers require mains power?
No. Our towers use solar panels with integrated battery backup, which keeps cameras and recording running continuously. They do not need a mains connection, which makes them suitable for undeveloped sites, rural land, and any location where running a power supply would be impractical.
Is the footage stored on-site or in the cloud?
Footage is stored on the unit itself via an onboard recording device. Remote access via 4G means you can view live footage on a smartphone or computer at any time. We can arrange cloud backup or remote footage retrieval as an additional service if required.
Are CCTV towers GDPR-compliant?
CCTV systems in the UK must be operated in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. For temporary CCTV on private land (such as a construction site), the key obligations include notifying people that cameras are in use (usually via signage) and retaining footage only as long as necessary. Advanced Overwatch provides signage with our temporary hire units and can advise on appropriate retention periods for your site.
How much does a CCTV system cost in Newry?
Every property is different, so we price each Newry job on its own survey rather than a one-size-fits-all quote. A free, no-obligation survey lets us recommend the right system for your building and budget.
Are your Newry installations SSAIB Certified?
Yes. Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certificated (NIRE127) specifically for Intruder Alarm Systems, Visual Surveillance Systems (VSS) and Access Control Systems. This means every system we fit in Newry is installed and maintained to recognised industry standards.
Do you install CCTV systems in Newry?
Yes. Advanced Overwatch designs, installs and maintains CCTV systems for homes and businesses across Newry and the surrounding area. Newry is one of the areas we cover, we are one local Northern Ireland team, not a franchise or a call centre.
