Home Access Control and Smart Locks Northern Ireland
Smart locks, keyless entry and gate control for houses, driveways and farm lanes across Northern Ireland. Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certificated (NIRE127) specifically for Intruder Alarm Systems, Visual Surveillance Systems (VSS) and Access Control Systems.
Security for businesses and homes across N.I.
Abloy, specified for the opening.
A front door, shared entrance and controlled escape door have different needs. We check the door, existing lock, users and escape arrangements before recommending an Abloy solution.
Abloy SMARTair
Wireless electronic access for suitable doors. Credential options and administration depend on the chosen SMARTair setup. A uPVC or composite door needs its lock case and multipoint mechanism assessed first.
Abloy EDS
Controlled escape-door equipment for a design that specifically requires it, such as an appropriate shared or managed entrance. It is not a routine replacement for every household lock.
Abloy Primo
Access-management software for a specified compatible system. We assess whether central administration is appropriate for the property; it is not a universal phone-key app or a mechanical lock.
These products have different roles. The survey establishes the appropriate equipment and compatibility; they are not an automatic three-product bundle.
iLOQ
Choose how your household gets access.
We work across the iLOQ range, including digital keys, phone keys, locking hardware, readers and management. The selected platform and each opening determine which options can work together.
For everyday keyholders
Choose a suitable physical credential for people who prefer one. Access rights, updating and lost-key handling follow the selected iLOQ platform and how its devices receive changes.
For supported phone access
Compatible phone-key solutions offer another way to use suitable locks. Phone requirements, permissions, power and offline behaviour are checked for the specified equipment.
For the person managing access
Agree who can issue, restrict and withdraw credentials, and what records are available. Timed visitor access and remote updates depend on the chosen system and connection.
Not every part of an access system is battery free. We explain the selected locks, readers, controllers, power arrangements and any service requirements. An access log records the credential used, rather than proving who physically passed through a door.
Doors, gates and rural access
A way in.
A safe way out.
Plan loss of power and connection. We demonstrate the chosen lock’s low-power warnings, emergency entry, local access and backup arrangements. These differ between products.
Keep escape clear. The opening needs a suitable escape arrangement. That may include mechanical inside release; it does not mean every lock must unlock from outside whenever power fails.
Assess the whole gate. Weight, wind, trapping points, controls, safeguards and maintenance all matter. Photocells or a camera view alone do not make a powered gate safe. Remote release and alarm-triggered movement need an assessed safe design.
For a driveway or farm lane, we assess power, cable routes and available connectivity. Intercoms, cameras and remote controls are selected as compatible equipment. Read about rural security, CCTV installation and powered-gate safety.
Supported access events can integrate with a suitable alarm system, including Ajax where the actual interface is supported. Ajax is not offered here as an access-control product. Intruder monitoring uses our monitoring partner’s NSI Gold certified Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). Compatible cameras are watched by our own 24-hour CCTV Monitoring Control Room only under the agreed CCTV service. Explore monitoring arrangements.
Home access control questions
Can I still get in if the smart lock battery dies?
The fallback depends on the lock. It may use a mechanical override, emergency power, a supported alternative credential or another specified method. We demonstrate low-power warnings, emergency entry, local operation and any backup arrangements at handover. Do not assume every smart lock has an external key cylinder or the same app warnings.
Will access control work on my uPVC front door?
There may be a suitable option, but the door and its existing multipoint mechanism must be assessed. We check the lock case, cylinder dimensions, handle operation, alignment, fire or escape requirements where relevant and the proposed hardware’s compatibility before confirming the design.
Can I open the gate for a delivery when nobody is home?
Remote release can be included where the chosen gate equipment, intercom, account permissions and connectivity support it. A suitable view of the entrance may help identify the caller, but it does not replace the gate’s assessed safety measures. The release method and any timed visitor access are agreed at the survey.
How do I give a cleaner access without handing over a key?
A compatible system can provide a separate credential with suitable permissions and, where supported, time limits. We show the authorised administrator how to change or withdraw access and how updates reach the locks. Logging and the speed of revocation depend on the platform and configuration.
Do you cover farms and rural properties?
Yes, across Northern Ireland. We survey the doors, gates, distances, weather exposure, power and connection options. Cable, suitable wireless links or other power arrangements are assessed for the actual site, rather than assuming solar or mobile data will work everywhere.
