Advanced Overwatch designs, installs, monitors and maintains security systems for businesses across Lisburn, from single retail units in the city centre to multi-tenant industrial premises at Knockmore Hill and Lissue. We are SSAIB certified (NIRE127) for CCTV, access control and intruder alarms, and we have been securing commercial premises across Northern Ireland since 2017.

Every quote follows a free site survey. A distribution unit off the Moira Road and a professional office near Bow Street need genuinely different systems, and no honest price exists until somebody has walked the site.

Who We Secure in Lisburn

Most businesses that call us are in one of three positions.

  • Something has already happened. A break-in, a theft from a yard, an assault on a member of staff, or footage that turned out to be unusable when the PSNI asked for it. The priority is getting something reliable in place quickly, and making sure the next incident produces evidence rather than a shrug.
  • The worry is constant but nothing has happened yet. Stock is sitting in a unit overnight, plant and tools are in an open yard, or you have simply grown to the point where you no longer know who has keys. This is the best time to design a system properly, because nobody is making decisions under pressure.
  • Somebody is requiring it of you. An insurer, a landlord, a client contract, a licensing condition or a fire safety obligation. Here the system has to satisfy a specific standard and produce documentation, not just work.

We serve retail and hospitality in the city centre and at Sprucefield, industrial and distribution premises on the estates west of the city, professional offices, healthcare and education sites, and rural commercial property out towards Hillsborough, Moira, Dromore and Maghaberry. Why Lisburn Businesses Are a Distinct Security Problem

Lisburn is a city of 51,447 people at the 2021 census, sitting inside a wider Lisburn and Castlereagh district of 149,105. Two things shape almost every commercial survey we carry out there.

The first is the road network. Sprucefield sits on the southern edge of the city where the M1 meets the A1, about a mile from the centre, and the industrial estates cluster within a few minutes of M1 Junction 6. That connectivity is exactly why businesses locate in Lisburn. It also means a vehicle can be on your premises and back on a motorway inside five minutes, which changes what a security system has to achieve. Detecting an intruder is not enough on its own. You need a record of the vehicle, and you need somebody notified while it is still there.

The second is the mix of tenure. A great deal of Lisburn’s commercial floorspace is multi-unit, with shared yards, shared access roads and shared gates. Security designed for a standalone building does not transfer cleanly to a site where three other companies use the same entrance. Coverage boundaries, door rights and data protection responsibilities all have to be explicit about where your premises end and your neighbour’s begin.

Commercial CCTV in Lisburn

For a business, the test of a CCTV system is not whether it records. It is whether the footage identifies a person or a vehicle when it matters, and whether anyone finds out in time to act.

On Lisburn commercial sites we usually specify a fixed overview of the yard or shop floor combined with tight cameras holding the gate, the till and the goods door, because a single wide camera that sees everything usually identifies nobody. Where vehicles come and go, ANPR at the entrance gives you a record of which vehicle arrived and when, which is far more useful after an incident than general footage of a gate. On sites with legitimate overnight movement, we use line-crossing and loitering analytics rather than plain motion triggers, so alerts stay worth reading.

Advanced Overwatch installs, maintains and supports the CCTV systems of public bodies including Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Mid Ulster District Council, the NHS and more.

Commercial Intruder Alarms and Police Response

Business intruder alarms are installed to BS EN 50131 and PD 6662:2017. If you need a police response, the relevant standard is BS 8243:2021, which covers how an activation becomes a confirmed alarm. In practice that means more than one detector, or more than one type of detection, must agree that something is genuinely happening before the event counts as confirmed and the system’s Unique Reference Number can be used to request police attendance under NPCC Security Systems Policy 2015.

This is the single most misunderstood point in commercial alarm buying. A self-monitored system sends an app alert to somebody’s phone and relies on that person seeing it and acting. A monitored system also signals to a 24-hour alarm receiving centre, where an operator follows an agreed plan. Advanced Overwatch provides 24-hour monitoring as standard.

More on choosing a system is in our guide to choosing the right intruder alarm system, and the local detail is on our Lisburn intruder alarm page.

Access Control for Lisburn Business Premises

Access control earns its place fastest on two kinds of Lisburn premises: multi-tenant estates, where each unit needs its own rights on a shared entrance, and any business with regular staff turnover, where a lost fob should be cancelled in seconds rather than triggering a lock change across the building.

Beyond the door itself, the audit trail is what most commercial clients end up valuing. Knowing which credential opened which door at which time settles disputes, supports investigations and satisfies clients who ask how you control access to their goods or data. Door events can be tied to camera footage so the two are reviewed together. See our Lisburn access control page.

Commercial fire alarm systems are designed and installed to BS 5839-1:2017+A1:2020, which sets out system categories, detector siting, commissioning and the maintenance regime. In Northern Ireland the appropriate person, typically the owner or the employer, must carry out a fire risk assessment and take reasonable fire safety measures. The alarm system is one of those measures, and the risk assessment is what determines the category of system you actually need.

Fire alarm installation is provided outside the scope of our SSAIB registration (NIRE127), which covers CCTV, access control and intruder alarms only.

We also carry out fire risk assessments, fire door assessments, and the supply, installation and maintenance of fire extinguishers, so the assessment and the system it specifies do not have to sit with two separate contractors. See our Lisburn fire alarm page and our Lisburn emergency lighting page.

What Happens Next

  1. Free survey. An engineer walks your premises, looks at the actual risks and the actual lighting, and asks what you need the system to prove.
  2. Fixed quote. A written, itemised price with no obligation. What you are quoted is what you pay, unless you change the scope.
  3. Installation. Scheduled around your trading hours where we can, commissioned properly and handed over with documentation.
  4. Aftercare. Maintenance and 24-hour monitoring contracts, with the same operation that installed the system servicing it.

What a Business Security System Costs in Lisburn

There is no useful published price for commercial security, because a four-camera retail unit and a fifteen-camera distribution yard with ANPR and access control are not the same purchase. What we can promise is that the survey is free, the quote is fixed and itemised, and nobody will be asked to commit to anything on the day of the visit.

If budget is the constraint, say so at survey stage. It is usually possible to phase an installation, securing the highest-risk areas first and extending later on the same platform, and that is a far better outcome than a cheap system that does not do the one job you bought it for.

CCTV and Data Protection for Lisburn Businesses

Any business CCTV system carries duties under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It is a formal obligation, and it arrives the moment your cameras record people, which for a commercial premises is immediately.

On Lisburn’s shared industrial estates this comes up more than average, because cameras covering your own yard very often see a shared access road or a neighbour’s ground. We set systems up in line with Information Commissioner’s Office guidance and deal with it at survey stage: camera placement and field of view, signage stating that recording takes place and who operates the system, a defensible retention period with footage overwritten on a defined cycle, and a process for responding when somebody requests footage of themselves or when the PSNI requests footage.

Getting this right at installation costs considerably less than fixing it after a complaint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you install CCTV in commercial premises in Lisburn?

Yes. We design and install CCTV for retail, office, industrial, warehouse, hospitality, healthcare and education premises across Lisburn and the wider area. The design work matters more than the hardware on a commercial site: a fixed overview paired with tight cameras on the gate, the till and the goods door will identify a person, where a single wide camera covering everything generally will not. Where vehicles are involved we add ANPR at the entrance, and on sites with legitimate overnight activity we use line-crossing and loitering analytics instead of plain motion alerts so that an alert still means something at three in the morning. Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certified (NIRE127) for CCTV. Call 028 7087 8077 to arrange a free site survey.

How much does a business security system cost in Lisburn?

It depends on the size of the site, the number of cameras or doors, whether you need monitoring, and what standard you have to meet. That is why we do not publish a price list: a four-camera retail unit and a fifteen-camera distribution yard with ANPR and access control are entirely different purchases. What is fixed is the process. The site survey is free and carries no obligation, the quote that follows is written and itemised, and the price does not move unless you change the scope. If budget is tight, we can phase the installation so the highest-risk areas are covered first and the system extends later without being replaced.

Do you provide 24-hour monitoring for Lisburn business premises?

Yes, 24-hour monitoring is provided as standard on our commercial systems. A monitored system signals to an alarm receiving centre where an operator follows a plan agreed with you in advance, rather than relying on somebody noticing a phone alert. Where the activation is confirmed under BS 8243:2021 and the system holds a Unique Reference Number, a police response can be requested under NPCC Security Systems Policy 2015. We also offer keyholding, so somebody can physically attend the premises rather than calling you out at four in the morning.

Are your engineers SSAIB certified?

Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certified under membership NIRE127. That registration covers CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems. It matters commercially because insurers and contract clients frequently ask for evidence that a system was installed by a certificated firm working to the relevant standards, and a listing in a business directory is not evidence of that. We are also certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 45001. Our fire alarm work is provided outside SSAIB scope and is carried out to BS 5839-1:2017+A1:2020.

Can you handle security across several sites?

Yes. Access control systems support time-based staff permissions and a full audit trail across single or multiple locations, so one administrator can grant and revoke rights everywhere without visiting each site. CCTV can be brought under a single viewing platform in the same way. For multi-site businesses this is usually the strongest argument for using one contractor across the estate: one system, one set of credentials, one point of contact when something needs changing, and no gaps where two installers each assumed the other had covered a door.

What areas around Lisburn do you cover?

We cover Lisburn city and the surrounding area as standard, and we work Northern Ireland-wide for commercial installations. That includes Sprucefield, Knockmore, Lissue, Hillsborough, Moira, Dromore, Maghaberry, Glenavy, Dunmurry and Lambeg, along with the surrounding County Antrim and County Down townlands. One team looks after installation, maintenance and monitoring, so the engineer who commissions your system comes from the same operation that services it.
