Manufacturing and Industrial Security in Northern Ireland
Factories, engineering works and food production sites across Northern Ireland. Detection at the fence line, cameras aimed at the questions that come up every week, zoned access control, monitoring from our own control room.
Plan around the way
your plant works.
A break in at a factory is rarely measured by what left the yard. It is measured in the hours the line stood still afterwards: a stripped panel, copper cut from a compressor, tooling gone from a bench, a Monday waiting on parts.
Advanced Overwatch has fitted security systems since 2017, working from Beresford House in Coleraine and covering every county. Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certificated (NIRE127) specifically for Intruder Alarm Systems, Visual Surveillance Systems (VSS) and Access Control Systems. This page sits under Sectors, beside our commercial security pages.
At the boundary
and across the yard.
An industrial site is a building inside a yard, and the yard is where the warning starts. Detection at the boundary buys minutes: beams along a fence run, analytics that alarm when a person crosses a line, thermal detection where the ground is dark.
Trailers, skips, gas cages, pallets waiting on collection and the fuel tank all sit outside, so we protect the yard in its own right. Number plate capture at the gate settles a delivery dispute as often as a theft.
Cameras on the line, and what they are actually for
Inside, cameras earn their place by answering the questions that keep coming back. Which pallet went on which trailer. Who was at the machine when the guard was defeated. Why stock count and dispatch note disagree.
A production hall is hard on equipment. Dust, vibration, steam and washdown shorten the life of a camera meant for an office. We pick housings for the environment, keep cable away from drives and welders, and set retention to suit a late claim. See CCTV installation.
Zoning a plant so people are only where they should be
Few sites want one lock on one door. They want the office corridor open by day, the production floor limited to trained staff, the tool store tighter again, the plant room down to maintenance. Access control does that with a rule set per door.
Recorded credential events can help review door activity. Access rights and time windows are agreed for each area.
Lone workers, night shift and the small hours
Manufacturing runs while the rest of the county sleeps, and a site busy at three in the morning cannot simply be alarmed and left. We design around part setting, so offices, stores and yard stay protected while production runs.
What counts at four in the morning is who is watching. Cameras come into our own 24-hour CCTV Monitoring Control Room. Intruder alarm signals are handled by our monitoring partner’s NSI Gold certified Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), working to the plan we agree with you. Lone worker devices, a gatehouse panic point and monitored response are covered by the same arrangement, with keyholder attendance so nobody drives out alone.
Hygiene zones, cold stores and the retailer audit
Agri food is the largest manufacturing sector in Northern Ireland, and a processing plant carries requirements an engineering works never meets. In a high care or washdown area the camera has to survive the cleaning regime: sealed stainless housings rated for hosing and wash chemicals, mounted so nothing harbours above product.
Retailer contracts and third party standards ask you to show due diligence, so we build systems that export quickly: intake bay, metal detection and dispatch dock, kept for a retention period your technical manager agrees. Door records answer who entered high care.
Cold stores and yards are the other half. A chill room or blast freezer needs equipment rated for the temperature and the condensation, and the trailer park needs detection after dark. Our agricultural and rural security page covers the farm end of the chain.
Certification scope, and where fire sits
Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certificated (NIRE127) specifically for Intruder Alarm Systems, Visual Surveillance Systems (VSS) and Access Control Systems. It does not cover fire, and we never let it read otherwise. We service factory fire alarms to BS 5839, quoted as fire work on its own terms.

Manufacturing security questions
Can you install a system without stopping the line?
Most of it, yes. Containment and cabling go in around your shift pattern, and intrusive work is booked into a planned shutdown or a weekend. Anything needing an isolation or a power down is agreed first with your engineering lead.
What cameras suit a washdown food production area?
Sealed stainless housings rated for high pressure cleaning and wash chemicals, mounted so water runs off rather than sitting on a ledge. Chilled rooms have to allow for condensation, so we survey zone by zone.
Do you monitor factories overnight and at weekends?
Yes. Camera monitoring runs from our own 24-hour CCTV Monitoring Control Room. Intruder signals, lone worker devices and panic points come into an NSI Gold certified Alarm Receiving Centre, where the operator holds your site notes and follows the escalation you set.
Do you look after fire alarms on an industrial site?
We service factory fire alarms to BS 5839 alongside the security work. Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certificated (NIRE127) specifically for Intruder Alarm Systems, Visual Surveillance Systems (VSS) and Access Control Systems. This means we never present it as fire certification.
Can access control prove who was in a restricted area for an audit?
It can. Every badge presented at a reader is logged against a door, a time and a name, and the report filters to one zone and date range. Processors use that for audits.
Certified, audited and independent
No franchise, no head office script. The people who survey your plant install it and service it, working out of Beresford House in Coleraine.
