It was a full house on Wednesday 14 October for the second day of our three-day engineer training on Primo access control from Abloy.
Thank you, Carl
Special thanks to Carl Bridgwood, Digital Access Solutions Academy Manager, for flying over from Abloy’s headquarters to deliver in-person Primo specification and solution training to 12 of our team.
What is Abloy Primo?
Primo is access control software from ASSA ABLOY, developed by Abloy UK with its sister company Impro Technologies and part of ASSA ABLOY’s Digital Access Solutions range. It connects people, doors and credentials in one system, managed from a web-based interface, and grows with the building.

What Primo can do
Works with your hardware
Protect almost any opening with wireless cylinders, escutcheons, security locks, cabinet locks, padlocks and readers.
Cards, tags, PINs and phones
Give people access by smartphone, smart card, tag or PIN code, and issue or withdraw HID Mobile Identities from the same screen.
Biometric access
Fingerprint readers and facial recognition are built in and appear as native features within the software.
Keeps working offline
Each site validates access locally, so doors keep working even if the central software goes offline.
CCTV, life safety and lockdown
Link with CCTV, support life-safe doors fitted with electric locks, and lock a site down when needed.
Multi-site management
Run several sites from one place, set up with user-friendly wizards, and pull predefined or custom reports.
The hardware behind Primo
Primo runs on ASSA ABLOY controllers, chosen to suit the size and layout of each site.
Distributed controller
A flexible, scalable two-door controller for managing access efficiently.
Distributed controller with electric lock support
Supports the ABLOY electric lock range as a single-door controller, embedded Lite controller or full system controller.
Application controller
A network access controller designed for large sites and multi-building environments.
An easy step up from Incedo
Primo is fully compatible with ASSA ABLOY Incedo, so an existing Incedo system can move to Primo without starting again. We became the first ASSA ABLOY Incedo integrator in Ireland in 2022, and this training means our engineers are ready to recommend Primo where it is the right fit.
