How your security installation works
A security installation starts with understanding your property. Advanced Overwatch takes you through a free survey, a tailored design, professional installation and ongoing aftercare across Northern Ireland. You agree what the system needs to do before work begins, including whether you want the system monitored.
Security for businesses and homes across N.I.
From survey
to everyday use.
Survey
Tell us about the property and what concerns you.
Design
Review the equipment, purpose and agreed scope.
Installation and handover
Have the equipment fitted, tested and explained.
Aftercare and monitoring
Discuss maintenance and any monitoring arrangements.
Tell us what you need at a free survey
Start with the things you want to protect and the concerns that brought you here. That might be a house left empty during the day, an outbuilding beyond earshot, or a business with several people opening and closing. You do not need to choose cameras or an alarm panel before speaking to us.
At the survey we look at access points, the layout, existing equipment and how the property is used. Tell us about pets, regular visitors, working hours and any areas you want to keep private. If you have requirements from an insurer or a landlord, have those available so they can inform the recommendation.
Review a design tailored to your property
The proposal sets out the equipment, its purpose and the work involved. Camera positions should answer a particular need, such as seeing who approaches a doorway. Alarm detection should suit the rooms and routes people use. Access control should reflect who needs to enter, and when. We explain how these parts work together.
This is the point to discuss priorities and ask for anything unclear to be explained. We distinguish the installation from any ongoing maintenance or monitoring arrangements so you can consider each part. Our guide to why professional security works explains the thinking behind combining measures. We agree the scope with you before arranging the work.
Have the system installed, tested and explained
We agree access and the practical arrangements for installation with you. In an occupied home, that means discussing cable routes and the rooms we need to reach. At a business, it means planning around staff, visitors and the areas that must stay accessible. The time needed depends on the agreed system and the property.
Advanced Overwatch is SSAIB certificated (NIRE127) specifically for Intruder Alarm Systems, Visual Surveillance Systems (VSS) and Access Control Systems. Once the equipment is fitted, we test its operation and explain the controls you will use. Handover covers setting and unsetting an alarm, viewing and finding recordings where CCTV is fitted, and using any agreed app functions. Ask us to go through anything again before handover is complete.
Keep it working with aftercare and monitoring
Keep your system information somewhere you can find it, and make sure everyone who uses the equipment knows the basics. We discuss the maintenance appropriate to the installation and how to contact us for help. Read our satisfaction guarantee for the cover and exclusions that apply; guarantee cover and routine maintenance are different parts of looking after a system.
If you choose professional monitoring, intruder and fire signals go to our monitoring partner’s NSI Gold certified Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). Cameras are watched in our own 24-hour CCTV Monitoring Control Room. We agree the response arrangements and contact details with you rather than leaving you to decide during an activation. Phone app alerts and professional monitoring have different roles: an app keeps you informed, while the monitoring service follows the agreed response plan. Our home monitoring page explains the options in more detail.
A little preparation makes the conversation more useful
When you contact us, give the property location, whether it is a home or business, and a short description of the problem you want to solve. Let us know if work needs to fit around a move, refurbishment or opening date. We can discuss timing once the scope and access requirements are understood, rather than promise an installation date before seeing the job.
For an existing system, the make and model and any service paperwork are useful. You do not need to send passwords, alarm codes or detailed security arrangements through the enquiry form. Tell us that equipment is already fitted and we can discuss what needs checking. Advanced Overwatch has been established since 2017 and is based at Beresford House, Coleraine BT52 1GE, serving properties across Northern Ireland.
Questions before you book
A few practical points about starting a security project.
Do I need to know which system I want?
No. Explain what concerns you and how you use the property. The survey helps establish whether CCTV, an intruder alarm, access control or a combination is appropriate, and gives you a chance to ask about the differences.
Does booking a survey commit me to an installation?
No. The free survey is a chance to understand the property and discuss a recommendation. You can review the proposal and ask questions before deciding whether to proceed.
Can you look at equipment that is already installed?
Yes. Tell us what is fitted and bring any paperwork you have. Its condition and suitability need checking before we can say what can be retained, upgraded or included in a new arrangement.
Is professional monitoring part of every installation?
We discuss monitoring as part of the design rather than assume it is required. If you choose it, we explain the monitoring connection and agree the response arrangements with you.
How do I request a survey or ask a question?
Use the contact form or call 028 7087 8077. Give the property location and a brief outline of what you need. The same team can help you take the next step or explain a proposal you have already received.
