Security Lighting Installation Northern Ireland

Deterrent lighting for houses, yards and commercial perimeters across Northern Ireland, planned around the cameras so the footage is worth something after dark. PIR floodlights, dusk to dawn cover and floodlight cameras.

Thousands of premises secured since 2017

Good lighting starts with the scene.

Light for people. Light for cameras.

Choose the lighting method for the job. Infrared, visible white light and hybrid lighting have different roles.

People and camerasSecurity lighting

White light

Visible illumination for entrances, paths and work areas. It can support colour CCTV where the camera and available light are suitable.

Compatible night visionSecurity lighting

Infrared

Additional illumination for a compatible camera’s night mode. It does not light a walking route for people and generally produces monochrome images.

Two lighting modesSecurity lighting

Hybrid

Combines infrared and white light in suitable equipment. Switching between modes depends on the illuminator, camera and agreed control design.

Floodlight camera or separate fittings? An integrated unit can suit a doorway. Separate equipment offers more freedom over camera position and beam direction. We assess recording, power, alerts and servicing for the actual model.

Choose the controls deliberately. PIR detection, dusk switching, schedules and supported alarm or camera events can control lighting. Remote activation or operator use is included only in the agreed compatible system. Read about monitoring.

Your lighting survey

Check the view.
Then plan the fittings.

1. Walk the property after dark

Review entrances, gates, routes and the existing camera view. On farms and rural sites, include lanes, machinery sheds and outbuildings.

2. Agree coverage and controls

Assess the supply, cable route, mounting, weather exposure and coastal corrosion risk. Your proposal sets out the fittings, switching and integration. We test the agreed detection areas and night view at handover.

Security lighting questions

Well-positioned lighting can deter unwanted activity and help people see who is approaching, but it does not guarantee that burglary will be prevented. It works alongside suitable locks, alarms and cameras. Aim and control it so it does not disturb neighbours.

Poor positioning, glare, reflections or uneven coverage can reduce image detail, even when a light is not directly facing the lens. We assess the camera’s mode, exposure and night view with the proposed lighting. Colour images depend on the camera and sufficient suitable visible light.

An integrated unit can suit some entrances; separate equipment gives more flexibility over beam direction, camera position and maintenance. We compare the actual model’s recording, power, alert and control options against the area to be covered. Neither arrangement is automatically better for every property.

Use the selected fitting and sensor manufacturer’s instructions, checked against the site. Height, aiming, detection zones, tamper exposure and nearby roads all affect performance. There is no single mounting height that suits every PIR floodlight.

We can assess the existing cameras, lighting, supply and controls before confirming what can be retained or integrated. The survey includes the night view where appropriate. A lighting change may help, but it cannot correct every camera fault or unsupported connection.
