Whole-town figures sum the official police recorded crime tables for the electoral wards covering Strabane, published by NISRA. Council figures cover the whole council area. Both are financial-year totals, separate from the monthly 1-mile measure.

The annual council series uses burglary, vehicle offences, robbery and criminal damage groupings. The monthly town-centre security-related subtotal uses a broader set of categories. These definitions differ, so do not compare the two subtotals as the same measure.

Scale and source. The centre figure, 79 crimes in August 2026, is our one-mile radius count built from the PSNI open data. The whole-town record on this page, 1,030 crimes across Strabane in 2025/26, is the official series covering all 5 electoral wards. The first tells you about the town centre in one month, the second about the whole town across a financial year. The methodology explains why we never blend them.

It changes where the money goes first. Violence and sexual offences accounted for 36 of the 79 crimes recorded inside the one-mile circle, within a security-related subtotal of 49. Practically, a camera does not stop an assault, but clear footage is what officers ask for afterwards. We would rather put the right camera in the right place than add cameras, and the free survey is where that gets settled against your own layout.

Across the twelve reported months in the table above, June 2026 was the highest at 94 crimes and January 2026 the lowest at 64 crimes, on a total of 985. That spread is normal for a centre this size and it is the reason we publish the whole run rather than one headline. If you are deciding what to install, the pattern matters less than how your own property is approached and lit. We have been designing and installing systems in Northern Ireland since 2017, and the site survey costs nothing.

Discuss security systems for your property

A survey considers your premises, access and existing systems. Local crime figures provide context; they do not decide what your property needs.
