CCTV Systems – Design, Installation, Integration and Maintenance

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) has launched a new edition of its CCTV code of practice for the design, installation and maintenance of CCTV surveillance systems – NCP 104 Issue 3.

This edition includes guidance on protecting systems from cyber risks and emphasises the importance of thoroughly assessing customer security risks and requirements when developing CCTV system design.

The new NCP 104 provides installers with detailed recommendations and guidance to be followed as part of delivering a CCTV system design and ensures sustainability, functionality and effectiveness of a system.

The course covers the latest standard BS EN 62676-4:2015, (the current application guidelines for the use of video surveillance systems in security applications), but simplifies the process of system development and testing, by omitting specific requirements regarding system grading and the use of some specific image testing requirements.

Introduces requirements for design areas such as network (cyber) security, detectors, video analysis, audio and cabling, that are not covered by in BS EN 62676-4 and also covering current technologies and terminology.

Stands alone from BS 8418 which relates to the installation of remotely monitored detector activated CCTV systems.

Benefits to our customers include:

Customers buying CCTV surveillance systems designed, installed and maintained to comply with this latest edition can be assured of:

  • Security needs being fully assessed, documented and agreed prior to any design work;
  • System design addressing agreed security needs, usability and operating requirements including network (cyber) security
    thorough validation and testing of the CCTV system;

Constructionline is a register for pre-qualified contractors and consultants. Constructionline was established in 1998 by the UK government to provide a single point of reference for all pre-qualification data for the construction industry. PAS 91 is a standardised pre-qualification questionnaire which has been developed to reduce the need for suppliers to complete a variety of different pre-qualification questionnaires for different, and in some cases, the same clients.

Developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI), the question set has been commissioned by Government and is a recommended common minimum standard for construction procurement. Updates to PAS 91 have been introduced in 2013 through consultation with professional bodies and trade associations such as the National Federation of Builders (NFB), Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA), Specialist Engineering Contractors’ Group (SEC) and Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP).

With all public sector buyers needing to pre-qualify construction suppliers; inefficient buying practices can amount to huge amounts of wasted time and money for buyers and suppliers alike.

Launched in 2012, Acclaim Accreditation is the health and safety accreditation service provided by Supplier Assessment Services. Acclaim carry out an online assessment of a company’s health and safety documentation and work activities as an independent competent assurance of the systems you have in place. As an SSIP members scheme, Acclaim Accreditation supports the objectives of SSIP (Safety Schemes In Procurement) to improve health and safety standards across the UK and reduce duplication of paperwork in procurement.

The course is in compliance with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and approved by HSENI. Regardless of profession, First Aid is an indispensable skill to have. Health and Safety Regulations of 1981 outline that it is an employer’s responsibility to ensure staff have access to “adequate” first aid treatment. Having Certified First Aiders at all Advanced Overwatch job sites satisfy this criteria and make our workplace safer for everyone.

This certification covers ADR Regulations and the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (CDG) 2009.
